She Saws Seashells by the Seashore

Updated: Jan 27, 2020

Watch Wanda working on the Silver Scallop in this short video.

Ever wonder how Wanda cuts those fine-lined details? It begins with a tiny, tiny hole in the metal where each line or shape is to be cut out. Then a special jig-saw with a diamond blade, so fine you can barely see it, is laced through the hole and tightened onto the saw. Holding the piece on her bench pin, she turns the piece and adjusts the saw angle as she goes to create the shape. Each time she completes a cut she releases the blade, threads it in the next hole, and continues. Patience, skill, and a good supply of blades are required.
